Arc 1950, named the most welcoming town in France (Booking 2026)

· Guide EN,Arc 1950 et le domaine

In February 2026, Booking.com unveiled its Traveller Review Awards — and Arc 1950 was named the most welcoming town in France. The village tops the national ranking, ahead of famous names like Aigues-Mortes, Eguisheim and Saint-Émilion, climbing from 2nd place in 2025. For us, as owners renting our apartment here, it comes as no surprise. Here's why Arc 1950 wins everyone over.

An award based on real traveller reviews

The Traveller Review Awards aren't handed out by a panel: they reward the destinations rated highest by travellers themselves, based on millions of verified reviews left after a stay. In other words, the ranking reflects the welcome people actually experience. Arc 1950 coming first in France says a great deal about the stay you'll have there.

A fully pedestrian village

Arc 1950 is entirely car-free: no vehicles in the streets. You park in the covered car parks located right under the residences, with lift access straight up to your floor — you unload your luggage under cover, then forget the car until you leave. Children come and go freely and safely across the little squares, one of the village's great advantages for families.

Genuine ski-in ski-out

Here, the slopes run through the village. The residences' ski lockers open directly onto the pistes: you click in at the foot of the building and you're off. In the evening you ski back the same way — no shuttle, no carrying boots, no driving uphill. This is true ski-in ski-out, the kind not every resort that promises it can actually deliver.

High altitude, reliable snow

Perched at 2,040 m, Arc 1950 is one of the highest villages in Les Arcs. That altitude keeps the snow plentiful and dependable from December to April, with direct access to the big Arc 1950 / Arc 2000 ski area — and, with a Paradiski pass, to 425 km of runs all the way to La Plagne. Staying high means skiing in good conditions, early and late in the season.

Modern, comfortable residences

Unlike many resorts built in the 1960s and 70s, the residences in Arc 1950 are recent — mostly built between 2004 and 2008. The result: spacious, well-insulated, well-equipped apartments in warm Savoyard architecture (wood, stone, large balconies facing the peaks). You're warm and quiet, far from the cramped mountain-studio cliché.

Everything a few steps away

The village packs in plenty of shops, restaurants and bars across a few pedestrian squares: bakery, mini-market, rental shops, Savoyard restaurants, sunny terraces and après-ski spots. You can spend the whole week without touching the car — fresh bread in the morning, dinner out in the evening, all two minutes on foot.

In short

Car-free, ski-in ski-out, high up, modern and lively: Arc 1950 brings together everything that makes a stay work — and guests who come back. Topping the Traveller Review Awards 2026 simply confirms what our guests feel season after season.
